What is Hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is used to recognize and treat uterine problems. The hysteroscope is a thin, lighted telescope-like device. It is advanced in the vagina and inserted into the uterus. Projects the image inside the uterus onto a screen.

Who is hysteroscopy applied to?

The most common reason for hysteroscopy is Abnormal Uterine Bleeding. abnormal uterine bleeding; includes excessive menstrual bleeding, decreased menstrual bleeding, or prolonged menstrual bleeding. These bleedings are sometimes caused by benign fibroids or polyps.

How is hysteroscopy done?

Before the process starts, by giving you drugs to calm you down; general or local anesthetics are used and you are prevented from feeling pain. These procedures should be done in equipped clinics or hospitals. It should also be done after the end of the menstrual period. (It is not recommended to be done during the menstrual period). First, a speculum is placed in order to see the cervix clearly. The hysteroscope is then inserted into the uterus and saline is given inside. In this way, the inside of the uterus can be observed in more detail. your gynecologist; looks carefully at the inside of the uterus and the tubal openings. If necessary, he performs a biopsy or corrects it if he sees pathology.
